About Lark W. Quill
I am an independent musician dedicated to creating original music from beginning to end. Every lyric comes directly from my lived experiences or world views. I begin with words from what I have felt in my own past. No masks, no lies.
My approach to music is deeply personal and intentional. When I was at my lowest; I listened to songs on repeat. These artists’ words became my theme songs. I escaped isolation, abuse, and gained a confidence I never would have otherwise had. Music can connect people in a way most art forms cannot. A three-minute song can sometimes release tears that have been held back for years. If my work can help even one person feel less alone, then it has been worth it.
Behind the Scenes
The Vocals
While I do not encourage living in the closet, turning one into a sound booth is highly encouraged. I record my own vocals from start to finish.
The Production
Sometimes, I am lucky enough to work with talented musicians. Most the time, I am creating every background track you hear. Even if I am fortunate enough to have a musician play; I will need to mix it in with my vocals and adjust the final sound. Featured is my assistant editor, also known as the cat
The Melody
After the lyrics comes the melody. I typically fool around on the piano until anything clicks with the words. Often coming from messing up on a scale pattern and deciding I liked the sound.
